Zana Boxing Club new chairman Stephen Sembuya Magulu has expressed interest to run for the top UBF office.
Sembuya is optimistic that he is the right man to change the image of amateur Boxing in the country
“I have been an adamant follower of Boxing for the last 25 years, very passionate about the game.” I have been supporting several boxers in the country and now I am the chairman of Zana Boxing club, which I am confident that it will become the number one Boxing club in the country.”

“I am ready to contest for the UBF Presidency, not that I want to be in that office but I believe we need to take back Boxing to club level.” We need leadership that will cater for coaches, nurture the sport of Boxing in the country.”
“We need to develop the game in schools and I believe this will attract sponsors into the game just like corporate games such as Basketball and Rugby.”
On the new UBF Constitution amendments
“I think this is the right time for all well wishers of Boxing to come out and challenge the new UBF Constitution, previously it was simple one needed to be in leadership of any club affiliated to UBF. Now the new amendments are for personal gains not for the good of the game.” If they look us totally outside, personally I will continue supporting the game by sponsoring Boxers.”
He also clarified on the leadership of Zana Boxing
“No one has come out and contested the leadership of Zana Boxing, its the current UBF President Kapere is the one fighting our leadership. He fronted Philip Munaabi who is the manager of his Topboy Promotion company, the is Sharote who denied that she belongs to Zana Boxing club like Muhangi revealed in a certain video clip.” So I assure you, I am the chairman of the club.”
Sembuya revealed.
Meanwhile the new amended UBF Constitution, for someone to run for Presidency requires a diploma or anything equivalent, Sports Management Certificate, must have served on any boxing club executive for at least five years except the incumbent. One must have National Technical Officer (NTO) certificate.
