The Black Stars of Ghana are on the brink of failing to make it to the World Cup in Russia after falling to a 1-1 stalemate against Congo Brazaville at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

It was supposed to be a must win game for both sides who are trailing Uganda and Egypt in group E. Congo were the first to express their willingness to steal the day when Fabrice N’Guessi pounced on a mistake by Ghana defender Joseph Amattah to set up Thievy Bifuma to put the visitors in the lead on 18 minutes.
