Uganda’s Crested Cranes are ranked 146th as per FIFA Women rankings released on March 27th.
The Crested Cranes remain with 868 points but fall four places from the 142th position which they occupied in the last rankings released last year in December.
The rankings also imply Uganda is 25th on the African continent and fifth in the CECAFA region.
World Champions USA alongside Germany, France and Netherlands continue to lead the overall in that order.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons, also ranked 38th in the world lead the African continent followed by Cameroon, South Africa and Ghana.
Ethiopia remains the highest ranked CECAFA region country (111th) while Kenya (137th), Tanzania (139th) and Rwanda (146th) follow.
The FIFA Women rankings were introduced in 2003, 10 years after the men rankings established with an objective yardstick for measuring sporting performance of a number of female national teams across the globe.
Uganda as a country has continued to embrace the trend of Women football from the grassroots to the senior team level.
The national U-17 team is on the verge of a World Cup qualification while the senior team is expected to take part in the Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifers against Burundi at the preliminary round.
At club level, the Fufa Women Super League was established on top of the Fufa Women Elite League and the Fufa Women Cup.
It should be noted that the Women rankings are published only four times in a year, that is in March, June, September and December.
The next rankings will be revealed on the 26th of June.
