Why Police move is Seninde’s last chance for rejuvenation

With 5 league seasons under his belt, many would be forgiven to think that Duncan Seninde is a veteran of the game.

Born only 24 years ago, he broke through the exciting KJT Rwenshama team that graced the Uganda premier league in the 2014/15 season as a teenager.

Blessed with energy, pace, directness and bags of skill, the youngster caught the eye of many football admirers and despite Rwenshama’s relegation from the topflight, Seninde managed to win himself a move to Vipers SC club the following season.

However, with all the promise and expectations the player’s only highlights can be traced back from his time with Portuguese tactician Miguel Da Costa with whom they won the 2017/18 season with Seninde featuring as a regular.

WHERE DID IT GO WRONG

“He caught my eye while featuring for Mmamba Kakoboza, I saw a very promising raw talent that needed to be polished, guided and coached. Unfortunately, I worked with him for a short period of time as the tournament is played on a knockout basis”

Says Kisala, the man who later secured a loan move for Seninde during his time as Wakiso Giants’ head coach.

Surprisingly, the move to Wakiso did not yield any positive results for the player and Kisala himself lost trust and confidence in the player opting to blood a young inexperienced Hassan Hassan Senyonjo in the delicate areas.

“I think he needs to identify what his best position is. He is good on the wings, as a left full-back and as a number 10 which is his most favored position but it’s too demanding. It requires too much concentration, hard work and more than just ability”.

” I don’t want to sound like a doubter of his ability but I think his talents are more suited for the outside areas of the pitch. He is so good in one on one situations, he has pace and a good final delivery. I think he should concentrate on improving those areas”.

“At Police, he has found a good teacher (Abdallah Mubiru) who will help improve in all those aspects as long as he goes with the right attitude”. I still have faith in him because age is still on his side”.

WHAT AWAITS HIM AT POLICE

Having worked with Mubiru before at Vipers SC in his 2016/17 stint, Seninde is second time lucky to reconnect with another admirer of his abilities but 4 years in football is such a long time.

At his disposal is Seninde’s former Vipers teammate Frank Zaga Tumwesigye who is even more gifted in the central areas of midfield. It took a lot of groundwork for Mubiru to convince Tumwesigye to join his project and being a football fantasist, the central midfield spot is surely out of question.

Another tough competitor is the left-footed Fahad Kizito who announced his name on the big stage with a beautifully executed strike in the 2-2 thriller against SC Villa t Lugogo last season.

Former Cranes international Tonny Mawejje with all his experience has not been signed to sit on the bench, he will also be vying for one of the midfield places.

On the wide areas, Johnson Odong and Ruben Kimera have been on steady progress and signed fresh contract extensions. Muwadda Mawejje signed from Bright Stars will make a huge shout for the place in the flanks.

As advised by his mentor Kisala, Seninde should quickly make a self-assessment as quickly as possible depending on his strongest points and demands of the modern game.

He would also be advised to make huge personal sacrifices like dropping the much-favored shirt number 10 because the game demands more than just pulling on the shirt at the back.

Reverting to the full-back position would also be a safer option that would relaunch his career.
