Newly appointed UPDF tactician Steven Bogere has highlighted the key areas which need a quick fix for him to save the team from the drop.
UPDF fell to their 5th loss of the season and they have only managed one win, a draw against defending champions and Masavu. Bogere however is upbeat that there is still time for revival and he expects to work hard towards turning the fortunes of the team. He says,
” I am quite unfortunate that I inherited a squad low on confidence, low on class with lack of direction but we the transfer window is not far away”
It’s so bad that we still have a whole lot of two months to the January transfer window but we shall have to negotiate the upcoming fixtures with this squad. Added Bogere .
Bogere took charge of his first game for UPDF yesterday
He pointed out the midfield and defense as the key areas that require immediate action,
“We lack competition for places in our squad, some positions are under employed and we hope to begin looking at recess inforcements as soon as possible, we need to strengthen in defense, the midfield and a few forwards”.
Bogere also picked a few positives from the loss to Police and he hopes to build on that to revive the team.
” We dominated play and created enough chances to win the game but we were a bit lacklustre in front of goal, Police got one genuine chance at goal and they used it. We failed to put ours away, we dominated them for both the first and second periods. We need to sharpen up. “
If Bogere is to leave by his word, he needs to begin with a win away to another struggling team in Soana for their 9th game of the season.
