Kajjansi United assistant coach Robert Kafeero says his team deserved nothing but winning against their neighbours Vipers in what was dubbed as the Entebbe Road Derby on Wednesday at Wankulukuku.

The Buganda Regional League side defied all odds to eliminate Vipers from this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup 8-7 on penalties following a one-all draw in normal time.

” We came into the game as underdogs but we had done our homework very well. We had perfect preparations and on the pitch, the players played to the instructions from the technical team. Surely, we deserved nothing but victory.”

Goalkeeper Michael Kagiri saved Umar Kyebatala’s penalty to send the Kajjansi outfit into the round of 32.

” It is a big result that gives us so much confidence to face any team in the subsequent stages of the tournament. We are not going to relax because we beat Vipers. I am sure our players now have the confidence to face any other opponents that come their way.” Kafeero adds.

Marvin Nyanzi, Mike Lutaaya, Rashid Ssemwogerere, Edgar Luzige, Joseph Shisha, Ashraf Mbaziira, Isaac Balyejusa and Kizito Ronald all flawlessly converted their penalties for Kajjansi United.

Kajjansi United joined Tooro United, Bugamba FC, Busia Young FC, Kigezi Homeboyz, Mbarara City FC and holders Proline FC at the round of 32 of the 46th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
