Wasteful Proline leaves it late in five goal thriller against MYDA

MYDA FC 2-3 Proline

Nordin Bunjo scored a last grasp winner as Proline beat MYDA 3-2 in a Big league encounter played at the King George VI Stadium in Tororo.

Hakim Kiwanuka and Arnold Sserunjogi scored the other while veteran striker Geoffrey Serunkuma grabbed a brace that only turned out to be a consolation for MYDA.

It would have been a victory with a big margin for Proline had they not been so wasteful especially in the first half.

Kiwanuka and Bunjo squandered keeper to beat opportunities while Sserunjogi blasted the ball above the bar.

After a series of wasted opportunities, Kiwanuka broke the deadlock in the 37th from close range after a run from a long through ball from Joseph Mandela.

MYDA brought on former Cranes duo of Vincent Kayizzi and Patrick Ochan at the start of second in a bid to find a leveller.

Serunkuma equalized through a penalty after defender Ramathan Juma’s hand ball in the box in the 65th minute.

A minute later, Proline were also awarded a penalty by referee Ronald Kirangwa after Bunjo was brought down defender Brandy Lojum in the box.

Mustafa Mujuzi blasted the penalty far wide despite goalkeeper Salim Sowedi going the wrong way.

Despite having no substitutes on the bench, Proline still dominated proceedings in the second half.

Proline restored their lead in the 89th minute after Sserunjogi maneuvered through the midfield and sent a low shot past goalkeeper Sowedi.

Serunkuma equalized for the home side with a free header following a free kick in the third of added five minutes.

A minute later, Proline reacted swiftly and found a winning goal through Nurdine Bunjo who tapped home from close range following another Kiwanuka brilliant run down the left flank.

Proline are now second on the Big League table with 10 points, one behind leaders Kataka.

MYDA are now second from bottom with four points and will visit Kataka on Sunday 9th December.

Proline will make another long trip to West Nile to take on Calvary FC on the same day.
