Walusimbi expects a flying start for the Cranes

Ugandan U-23 national team will face off with the Democratic Republic of Congo in their opener in the U-23 CECAFA Challenge Cup in Bahir Dar in Ethiopia.

Kobs captain Enock Walusimbi has vowed to fight for victory as Uganda kicks starts their quest for the 16th championship in the CECAFA Challenge tournament,

“All players the in camp are in good shape and ready to give the best as we play our first game against Democratic Republic of Congo.”

“It is a guest team taking taking part for the first time but we shall not take them for granted. Good enough all players are ready to give it all as they focus the Uganda Cranes.”

Walusimbi added

Uganda are the record champions of this tournament having won it 15 times.

In a tournament that will see nine teams taking part, Uganda is in group A alongside Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.

Hosts Ethiopia, Eritrea and Burundi make group B while group C consists of South-Sudan, Djibouti and Kenya.

Eritrea and Ethiopia played to a three all stalemate in their opener.

The tournament is expected to climax on the 31st of July-2021.
