Wakiso Hill Women Football Club beat Amuria High School 1-0 to storm into the semi finals of the FUFA Women Elite League at Njeru.
Amuria came into the encounter as favorites but we’re unfortunate to miss their inspirational skipper and leading scorer Emmanuela Akoel who was sidelined by illness.
While Wakiso Hill labored to qualify from Group D with four points, Amuria topped Group C with nine points from three games.
The game produced no clear goal attempts until the 63rd minute when Amuria’s Grace Nasongo hit the crossbar from a free kick.
Four minutes later, Wakiso Hill broke the deadlock through Amuria’s defender Josephine Atilong who was unfortunate to connect the ball into her own net following a corner kick.
Amuria sought for an equalizer but Wakiso Hill defended their slim lead and subsequently became the third team to book a place in the semi finals.
Wakiso Hill will face the eventual winners from the last quarter final between She Maroons and Ajax Queens.
