The Purple Sharks have held off competition from BUL FC, URA and Express to clinch the signing of experienced goalkeeper Samson Kirya.

Swift Sports understands that the player will undergo a medical assessment after agreeing to sign a two year contract with the club

Kirya a free agent after the expiry of his contract with SC Villa is expected to become first choice goalkeeper at Wakiso Giants following the departure of Yasin Mugabi. Derrick Emukule and Richard Anyama are the other options in the goalkeeping department.

Kirya had a stellar 2017-18 season before getting injured

Despite being out with a knee injury sustained at the close of the 2017/18 season, Kirya remains as one of the most talented and experienced goalkeepers in the land. He also won the award for the best goalkeeper that year.

The custodian has spent four years at SC Villa, having joined them from Entebbe FC in 2015.

With Said Keni in place, SC Villa remained reluctant to renew Kirya’s contract.

A graduate of Information Technology from Makerere University, Kirya also captained Makerere to their maiden University football league championship.

Wakiso Giants who finished 10th in their first ever premier league season, have already added Police forward Pius Kaggwa and Ibrahim “Owen” Kasule from Nansana United to their squad.
