Wakiso Giants thrashed Kefa Kisala’s UPDF 5-1 at Kakana Kyabaggu Stadium as the UPL action returned from the Uganda Cup break.
The result was Wakiso Giants’ biggest league victory since gaining promotion to the Uganda Premier League in 2018.
Striker Ivan Bogere bagged a brace while Joshua Lubwama Letti, Frank Ssebuffu and Viane Ssekajugo scored the others.
Lubwama opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a penalty after Ssekajugo was fouled in the box by Brian Kayanja.
Bogere made it 2-0 with his first of the game from close range in the 18th minute.
Four minutes to the mandatory halftime break, Ssebuffu headed home from a George Kaddu long throw in before Bogere made it 4-0 in the 43rd minute.
Ssekajugo got to the scoresheet in the 69th minute with the fifth goal moments before Hussein Zzinda pulled one back for the army men.
The comprehensive victory elevated Wakiso Giants to the 9th place on 26 points while UPDF remained 7th with 32 points in 22 games.
UPDF will host MYDA in their next game on Tuesday 11th while Wakiso Giants will visit Busoga United on the same day.
