Wakiso Giants overcome Kireka on penalties to book last 16 berth

Abdul Karim Kasule’s last gasp goal has seen Wakiso Giants’ Uganda Cup dream resuscitated and ultimately forced the tie into spot kicks.

The Purple Sharks were trailing Kireka United until the 90th minute when the former SC Villa forward intervened to save the day.

Substitute Feni Ali put the purple Sharks in the lead 54th minute after coming on for Abraham Ainemani.

Umar Mbowa levelled matters in the 62nd minute after beating shot stopper Cleo Ssetuba.

Kireka immediately got into the driving seat through Kamada Ssebagala who burried home a superb effort.

Ibrahim Kirya’s men continued pressing hard and in the 90+7 Abdul Karim Kasule levelled matters to send the game to spotkicks.

Wakiso Giants scored all the five with the home side missing one through Daniel Otto.

Wakiso Giants join BUL, Police, Bright Stars, Kiboga Young, Tooro United who shocked defending champions on the evening, Proline, URA, Kyetume, Onduparaka, Nebbi Central, Nkambi Coffee, Police, Vipers,Kitara FC and record holders Express FC.
