Vipers have moved four points clear of second placed KCCA FC with a 2-0 win over Busoga United on Wednesday at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Hilary Mukundane and second half substitute Paul Mucureezi scored the two goals for the Venoms in either half.

Bright Anukani failed to strike from the spot early on in the first period. He blasted over his penalty.

Mukundane gave Vipers the lead when he headed home a well delivered Anukani free kick.

This was the defender’s first goal for the Venoms since he made a move from Mbarara City in January.

Anwar Ntege had a decent chance to level matters but he blasted over his effort.

Earlier in the second half, Busoga United nearly restored parity but Ngalo Fredrick and Shaka Ssozi miscommunicated.

Mucureezi who came on as a substitute in the second superbly doubled Vipers lead with a 25 yard strike.

Vipers extend their lead at the top of the log with 46 points in garnered in 21 games while Busoga are 11th with 21 points.

Vipers next host Kataka in the round of 16 tie on Saturday while Busoga host BUL FC in their Uganda Premier league contest.
