Kirinya Jinja SSS star striker Joel Madondo is likely to be Vipers’ second signing in the mid-season transfer window, Swift Sports understands.
Vipers have apparently tabled an offer for the young forward to capture him on a two year deal.
Madondo has been one of the most outstanding players in the 2018-19 season scoring 9 goals to joint lead the scorers’ chat with SC Villa’s Bashir Mutanda.
Sources reveal the budding striker is expected to be Vipers’ second signing of January following former Gor Mahia winger Innocent Wafula.
The need to sign a striker in January has been hovering around Kitende since the available options have blown hot and cold. Vipers have managed to score only 17 goals which is half of what their rivals KCCA have scored.
This is the second time the defending champions are expressing interest in the services of Madondo after coming short of signing him in the pre-season.
Madondo who is also a former student at St. Mary’s Kitende, sprung to consciousness courtesy of the National post primary schools competitions featuring for Bishop McAllister, Risah Standard and Jinja SSS.
In 2017, Madondo emerged the top scorer in the Copa Coca Cola tournament and successfully guided Jinja SSS to their maiden triumph.
Madondo has also represented Uganda on the U-23 level, the Kobs which agonizingly fell to South Sudan last year.
Vipers hope to add Madondo to their attacking options in a bid to defend their premier league title.
