Vipers SC sweeps Masavu aside to go top

Vipers Sc continued with their perfect start of the Azam Premier league season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Masavu Fc at Bugonga fisheries stadium. Vipers are now on 10 points and are yet to concede a goal.

The home side looked resistant in opening stages of the game, but Vipers Sc piled more pressure and in the 34th minute, Milton Karisa gave the visitors the lead capitalizing on a mistake from Masavu defender Lawrence Bakilanze who failed to clear a drop ball out of the 18 yards box.

Vipers gained more momentum and continued to attack but couldn’t find the second in the opening half, thus retrieving with a 1-0 first half advantage.

In the second half Vipers couldn’t be denied a second as Masaza cup graduate Steven Mukwala opened his Vipers Sc account in the 58 minute, doubling the lead and also sealing all three points for the Kitende side.

The win also puts Jorge Da Costa’s men on top of the Summit on 10 points and 3 clear points over second placed Police Fc.

A delighted Jorge Da Costa couldn’t hide his happiness after today’s win. He said,

“Always our target is to win, am grateful that we have got three points today despite playing on a poor turf but above all we have won. It has been a good display for my team and now am turning focus on the next game in two weeks time,”
