Vipers SC are understood to have reached a compromise to sign Onduparaka striker Shaban Mohammed in a bid to strengthen their challenge for the 2017/18 tittle. The forward was an integral figure in seeing Onduparaka finish 5th in their maiden season when he managed an impressive tally of 13 league goals.
Shaban was recently stripped off his responsibility as the captain of the Arua based club with Rashid Toha appointed the new leader and its amidst this revelation that reports have come out to point at a possible exit.
Swift Sports sources understand that Shaban fell out with his bosses at Onduparaka after it dawned on him that they blocked deals from potential suitors what he deemed as a blockage to his career.
He has received offers from Egypt, South Africa, Europe and also locally from defending champions KCCA FC. It’s believed that Shaban has held numerous talks with the Vipers hierarchy and a compromise is expected to be reached between his Club Onduparaka and Vipers.
Shaban captained Onduparaka FC in their course to secure promotion to the Azam Uganda Premier League in 2015/16. In the same year he also guided Onduparaka to the Uganda cup finals losing 3-1 to Vipers. This great season performance saw him win the FUFA player of the year award 2016 beating Denis Onyango, Erisa Ssekisambu, Joseph Ochaya and Farouk Miya. His eye catching perfomances prompted Coach Micho to include him on the National Squad that took part in the AFCON tournament that was held early 2017 in Gabon.
