Vipers thumped lowly placed Maroons 5-0 at Kitende to maintain their four point lead on the log summit.

Allan Kayiwa, Brian Nkuubi, Milton Karisa and substitutes Paul Mucurezi and Abraham Ndugwa were all on target to ensure a comprehensive victory for Fred Kajoba’s charges.

Kayiwa put the Venoms in the lead from a Karisa well laid ball right at the end of the first half.

On 50 minutes, Karisa set up Nkuubi who made amends for his earlier miss to double the lead.

Karisa got on the score sheet with his first goal since his return at the hour mark.

Two minutes later Karisa was replaced by Mucurezi who headed home Vipers’ fourth from Aziz Kayondo’s well curled cross in the 75th minute.

Ndugwa put the icing on the cake with his first touch after replacing Kayiwa 12 minutes from normal time.

The commanding win sends Vipers to 53 points and leaves Douglas Bamweyana the Maroons coach on borrowed time.

Maroons remain fourth from bottom with 24 points, only two above the relegation zone after 24 games.
