Ceaser Manzoki scored a goal in each half to guide Vipers to a comprehensive victory over UPDF FC at Bombo Military Grounds and ultimately completed their double after beating them 1-0 at Kitende

Paul Mucurezi opened the scoring from the spot on 15 minutes after Joseph Vuni had handled the ball in the forbidden area. The former KCCA and Mbarara city man flawlessly sent Eric Kibowa the wrong way but surprisingly he had a muted celebration.

UPDF fielded a depleted defence following the unfortunate withdrawal of captain Denis Sekitooleko and marauding left back Isaa Mubiru due to injury.

It was on that shaky defence that gangly striker Ceaser Manzoki capitalised to punish UPDF. Their failure to clear a lose ball inside the area fell onto his foot and he sent a powerful bullet that Eric Kibowa only watched into his net on 25 minutes.

The Venons protected their lead from a late surge from the hosts and the game went into half time with Vipers on top.

On resumption, Vipers tactician Fred Kajoba twisted his formation to a more cautious approach by introducing Musa Ssali and Rashid Toha for the visibility off colour Ibrahim Orit and the injured Siraje Sentamu.

Aziz Kayondo tries to contain UPDF attackers

UPDF took control of possession but all their attacking intent yielded nothing. The closest they came to pulling a goal back was when Brian Kayanja sent a thumping header that beat Fabien Mutombora but it couldn’t beat the wood work.

Moments later, substitute Abraham Ndugwa combined well with Disan Galiwango to set up Vipers’ third goal of the evening.

The former Express man switched play from the left flank to the right, finding Ndugwa who floated a sumptuous cross that Ceaser Manzoki guided into the net to put the game to bed.

The 3 points earned put Vipers back on top of the log on 36 points but only above URA courtesy of their superior goal difference. UPDF are pushed to 7th on 25 points.

UPDF will hope to bounce back on 14th April when they visit Police FC at Lugogo in the forces derby, whereas Vipers host the inform Busoga United on the 13th of April at Kitende
