Vipers SC came from a goal down to humble Proline FC 4-2 at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday evening.
Fahad Bayo and Denis Mwemwezi netted a brace each as the Kitende outfit extended their lead on the Uganda Premier league table
Diego Hamis Kizza and Hakim Kiwanuka scored the two goals for the hosts.
Former Vipers forward Kizza put Proline into an early lead on the 7th minute mark.
Three minutes later, Mwemwezi capitalized on poor Proline defending to level matters for Vipers with a perfect header.
On the 14th minute mark, Proline goalie Hassan Matovu parried a Paul Mucurezi effort into Bayo’s path to make it 2-1 to the visitors.
Mwemezi completed his brace with a sensational strike to send the traveling fans into a frenzy.
In the closing minutes of the first period, Vipers were forced into a double change when midfielder Siraje Sentamu and captain Halid Lwaliwa got injured.
The pair was replaced by Ibrahim Tembo and Jacob Okao.
Referee Mashood Sali pointed to the spot in the 59th minute when Ibrahim Ssendi brought down Mwemwezi in the area.
Bayo converted perfectly for his 11th of the campaign and Vipers’ fourth on the evening.
Kiwanuka found Proline’s second in the final minutes of the contest.
Victory sees, Vipers move seven points at the top of the table with 42 points in 17 games while Proline remains bottom on the log with only 12 points in 17 games
Vipers next host record champions Villa on Friday 17th January at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende whereas Proline will travel to Express FC a day after.
