SC Villa will be seeking for their first victory of the season when they host Vipers SC who have a 100℅ record out-of the three games played in this campaign.

During the past seasons this contest was seen as a fierce rivalry. This time the two sides face off when one is a sinking ship that needs a captain to guide it to the shores while the other is in sailing momentum.

The 16 league champions are still winless this season, having two draws and one defeat. Moses Basena’s men have also spent 180 minutes without scoring a goal. Villa has scored two and conceded three goals in the previous league fixtures.

Villa played to a goalless draw with Bright Stars in their last game at Mwerwere whereas Vipers SC edged Nyamityobora FC by a Sserunkuma sole goal at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The reigning champions have won all their three opening league games, scoring four only conceding once so far this season.

Villa has lost five of their last nine league games against their rivals ( W2D2). Last season under the stewardship of Miguel Da Costa, the Kitende based side beat Villa home and away with both games ending in an identical 1-0 victory.

Moses Basena the Villa tactician believes this game will have a seismic effect to their season

“I believe this game will be a motivating contest to my side, last season Villa lost home and away. We want to improve on those results and everyone is motivated to put up a perform to lift the team from their and in the other games.”

Vipers SC midfielder Moses Waiswa is also confident ahead of this encounter and aims at maximum points.

“We have prepared well for the game though I believe it’s not going to be easy since Villa have good players and coaches. Our aim in this game is getting maximum points because we want to finish the first round on the summit.” Stated the midfielder.

Villa will miss the duo of Edgar Luzige and Yusuf Mukisa through injury while Pius Wangi and Asharaf Mandela are yet to be cleared and are ineligible to face their former side.

Left back Aggrey Madoi is the only injured player on the visitors side but the rest of the squad is fully fit for the mouthwatering clash.

The trio of Joseph Ssemujju, Bashir Mutanda and Mike Serumaga who will be facing their former side are expected to be productive for the hosts.

The creative hub of Moses Waiswa and Duncan Seninde will be needed to rise up Espinoza’s coached side. Dan Sserunkuma and David Kasirye are also expect to lift Vipers’ attack.
