Big moments are made for big players and that’s how Shafiq Kagimu rose to the occasion when his team needed him most.

Vipers got off the mark as early as the 5th minute from a well knit goal that came after an exchange of passes and good movement that saw Moses Waiswa release Karisa to slot home a cool finish.

Vipers were handed another opportunity to extend their lead in the 17th minute but Tonny Odur failed to burry the ball home with Nafian Alionzi already beaten. He thought the whistle had been blown against him for offside but to his disdain, the referee had waved play on.

Vipers were made to pay for Odur’s petulance within just 5 minutes to half time when Shafiq Kagimu made a 15 yards run to cross for Henry Kisekka who expertly controlled the ball between Bakaki and Wasswa to shoot deep in the bottom corner beyond Alitho’s reach.

The first 45 minutes ended with the two teams tied level with a goal a piece.

Enter the second period, URA showed more hunger with a more direct approach swinging more balls towards Henry Kisekka.

Their strategy paid off instantly with only two minutes played when Henry Kisekka delivered a well weighed cross which Shafiq Kagimu struck on the rebound to beat a helpless James Alitho.

Miguel Da Costa pressed the panic button by making a double substitution, withdrawing Moses Waiswa and Tonny Odur for Baden Mujahid and Pius Wangi respectively in the 51st minute.

Vipers continued to make relentless attacks which promoted Ibrahim Kirya to throw on Hood Mulikyi and Nicholas Kagaba to contain the pressure.

Vipers’ final throw of the dice was the introduction of the pacy Steven Mukwala at the deep end but it was a little too late for him to make any impact onto the game.

The defeat meant that Vipers go into the international break low on confidence having fell to their first home defeat of the season and they are currently 5th with 20 points whereas URA are now 6th on table with 19 points
