Vipers SC and KCCA FC played out to a goalless draw in what was dubbed as a title decider on Tuesday evening at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Vipers new signing Milton Karisa was handed his debut while KCCA quadruple of Kezironi Kizito, Erisa Sekisambu, Mike Mutyaba and Sadam Juma were facing their former paymasters.

Only time will tell if this turns out to be a point gained or two lost for Vipers as they search for a fourth league title.

The result sees Vipers maintain their five point lead on the Uganda Premier League table.

It could have turned worse for the hosts on the day. Fred Kajoba’s heart must certainly have been in his mouth when former Vipers SC forward Sekisambu failed to hit the target with only the goalkeeper to beat in the first period of the game.

In the second half, Muzamir Mutyaba had a decent chance to fire the visitors into the lead but his effort was saved by Vipers custodian Fabien Mutombora.

Sekisambu nearly won it for the Lugogo based side in the final minutes of the contest but was denied by goalie Mutombora.

But the concern for Kajoba is that his side looked nervy and unsure of themselves and his attack was disappointing.

Vipers stay top with 50 points and will next face URA FC on Friday while KCCA FC are second with 45 points and will host Express FC this Saturday.
