UPL dismiss Vipers’ appeal against Mbarara’s alleged use of ineligible player

The Uganda Premier League secretariat has dismissed Vipers SC petition that regarded Mbarara City fielding an ineligible player in their 3-2 defeat on Tuesday.

“The Secretariat received your petition dated 19th/05/2021 alleging that Mbarara City FC fielded an ineligible player in the match Vipers SC Vs Mbarara City FC (SUPL M#195) played on Tuesday 18th May 2021 at St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende.”

“As per the UPL records, player Ibrahim Magandazi, was eligible to play the said fixture.

“Ibrahim Magandazi was booked in M# 70 UPDF FC Vs Mbarara City FC, M#93 Mbarara City FC Vs Vipers SC, M# 151 Mbarara City FC Vs KCCA FC and was rested on M# 159 Mbarara City FC Vs SC Villa.”

“Ibrahim Magandazi was again booked on M# 178 Soltilo Bright Stars FC Vs Mbarara City FC and M#191 Mbarara City FC Vs Onduparaka FC meaning he had two cards by the time he was fielded for M#195 Vipers SC Vs Mbarara City FC.

Conclusively, the said player was eligible to feature in M#195 Vipers SC Vs Mbarara City FC.

Following their shock defeat, Vipers dropped to third place with 53th points and two adrift of leaders Express FC.
