Army side UPDF FC intensified their ambitions of beating the drop this season with a 1-0 victory over Proline FC in Bombo courtesy of a late goal from Fahad Bardiro.

Proline were forced into an early substitution when winger Sula Matovu got injured in the 20th minute paving way for Allan Egaku.

Following a goalless draw in the first half of the game, it seemed the two sides were destined to settle for a draw until the 86th minute.

Janjali Joseph controlled a high pass from left back Isaa Mubiru to set a minus for Fahad Bardiro who smashed it flawlessly to the back of the net to hand the hosts the ultimate lead.

Bardiro’s winner was also his personal 3rd in three consecutive league games having previously scored against Masavu last week and Bright Stars on match day 15.

Despite the slim victory, Steve Bogere’s men remain bottom placed with 14 points but keeps them in contention for better positions. Proline on the other hand remain one position above the red line with 17 position.

Proline will take on Maroons in their subsequent fixture on Friday 16th whereas UPDF will visit Police FC at Namboole on Tuesday 20th.
