Ugandan striker Sandra Nabweteme joins new club

Iceland Women topflight club Thor/Ka Akureyri has loaned Ugandan striker Sandra Nabweteme to Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar (FH Women Football Club) in the second tier.

Nabweteme joined Thor/Ka Akureyri in March this year after completing her studies at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University in USA.

Nabweteme still remains Thor/Ka leading scorer this season having scored three goals and registered one assist in the seven league games she has played.

Two of her goals came in the comeback 2-1 against Tindastóll Neisti FC while the other came in the 3-1 defeat to defending champions Breidablik WFC.

The Crested Cranes striker will feature for FH Hafnarfjarðar in Iceland’s women’s second division as the season heads for the final 10 games.

FH Hafnarfjarðar are aiming for promotion to the top flight league. They currently sit second on the table with 20 points garnered from 10 games played.

Nabweteme is a former Kawempe Muslim striker who left Uganda in 2016 to pursue engineering studies in USA.

She is also affiliated to Felkrem Sports Agency who are her representatives since the start of the year.
