Ugandan midfielder thrilled by new three-year contract with Danish top-flight side

Uganda Cranes midfielder Robert Kakeeto has officially signed a contract extension with Aalborg BK (AaB) in Denmark.

Kakeeto put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will ensure he stays at the Danish top-flight side until 30th June 2023.

The 25-year old midfielder featured in 15 competitive games for Aalborg BK in the closing stages of last season after having a brief stint at Helsinki IFK in Finland.

Kakeeto started in nine of the 15 games and came off the bench on six occasions and got two yellow cards.

Upon signing the new contract, Kakeeto expressed his delight and love for the club.

” It’s cool. I’m happy to be here and it’s really good that I’m going to stay in AaB. I like the club. There are good people and I love playing football, so I would like to stay here in Aalborg,”

Kakeeto said after signing a new deal.

” It was great last season to show what I can do on the pitch. The style of play suits me well, but there are good players in the club, so we are fighting for space. It gives us something extra that there is competition because it makes us better. We can not just perform at the same level, because with the competition there is, we need to get better. So it’s exciting when there is competition for space,”

He added.

” I always try to speak Danish with my teammates. Not only at the gym, but also when we are together in our free time. So I practice Danish all the time, so hopefully, it can be even better in the future. AaB is like a family to me. The club means a lot. Aalborg is the only city I know, so the whole city is like my family. I will remember the city all my life.”

” On the team, we have many good offensive players, so I must first and foremost focus on my defensive role in midfield. I just give everything I can on that part and then the second thing happens. The attackers score goals and the defense is in good shape,”

Kakeeto concluded.
