Ugandan goalkeeper joins Ethiopian top-flight side

Ugandan goalkeeper Brian Bwete Zigi has officially joined Ethiopian top-flight league club Shire Indaselassie FC.

Bwete who was a free agent was officially unveiled by the Ethiopian club who are also known as Suhul Shire.

He last featured for Mufulira Wanderers in the 2019/20 FAZ Zambian Premier League.

Last season, Shire Indaselassie was home to Ugandan midfielder Yasser Mugerwa who has since then joined Sidama Bunna FC in the same league.

Bwete has previously featured for SC Villa, URA FC, Lweza FC, BUL FC and CD Bukavu Dawa in DR Congo.

He joins the list of Ugandan goalkeepers who have featured in the Ethiopian premier league. These include Denis Masinde Onyango, Robert Odongkara, Posnet Omony, Hannington Kalyesubula and most recently Ismail Watenga.

Shire Indaselassie were 6th on the table when the Ethiopian League was abruptly ended due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
