Uganda national beach soccer team The Sand Cranes registered a 6-5 slim victory over Malawi to settle for Silver in the 2019 COPA Dar es salam beach soccer tournament held at Coco beach in Tanzania.
Emmanuel Wasswa bagged a hatrick, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Douglas Muganga and Roch Somoka scored for The Sand Cranes.
Sadam Saidi, James Chikoka, Vanacio Malunga and Isaac Kajamu who scored a brace scored for Malawi.
In the second game of the day Tanzania the hosts edged Burundi 6-3.
COPA 2019 Dar es salam tournament which had five countries Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Sychelles and Malawi was played on a round robin system.
The result saw The Sand Cranes finish second with seven points behind hosts Tanzania with nine points who won the tournament for the third consecutive time.
The Sand Cranes captain and Meddie Kibirige who plays for Isabeti SC was named the best goalkeeper.
Tanzania’s Jaruph Juma was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Jean Karumba the head coach for Burundi national beach soccer scooped the best coach accolade.
The Fairplay award was given to Sychelles team and the top scorer was Saddam Ussi with nine goals.
