Uganda will play in the African nations Championships for the 4th consecutive edition after edging Rwanda 3-2 on aggregate.

The Amavubi stars started with relentless attacks right away as soon as referee Hafiz Abdelghazi Alamen blew the kick offs whistle in an attempt to look for an early goal.

Nicholas Wadada had a torrid time facing Yannick Mukunzi.

Antoine Hey’s game plan paid off immediately within 10 minutes when Yannick Mukunzi headed from a well delivered corner kick. The cranes failed to get back to concentration by giving away possession so easily.

Inside 17 minutes it was 2-0 after Thierry Manzi headed home from Mukunzi’s inch perfect free kick to add more salt into Uganda’s wounds.

Into 7 minutes of the 2nd period, Basena made his first substitution when he introduced Martin Kiiza on for Moses Wasswa, he later brought on Paul Mucurezi for Muzamir Mutyaba in the 72nd minute.

Antoine Hey of Rwanda also introduced Innocent Nshuti for Aimable Nsabimana to intensify the pressure on Uganda. He later introduced Mugisha Gilbert for Eric Iradukunda but Uganda were defending for their lives.

Uganda were denied a clear penalty by the referee when substitute Paul Mucurezi was brought down in the dying minutes. Minutes later Moses Basena brought on Erisa Ssekisambu for Milton Karisa to kill off some minutes.
