UGANDA CUP: Vipers target first leg advantage over limping Villa


Premier league defending champions Vipers SC will host 9 time champions SC Villa this evening at the St. Mary’s stadium Kitende in the first of a two legged Uganda cup quarter final.

For both sides, this appears to be their most realistic chance of winning some silverware.

Vipers are trailing Express FC by 2 points in the league whereas Villa are lurking in mediocrity being 22 points behind the leaders.

The match however comes at a time when Villa are engrossed in financial problems that saw captain Asuman Harishe suspended by the club for revealing to the Daily Monitor that the players have gone 18 months without pay.

In his pre match remarks, Edward Kaziba confirmed that midfielder Ronald Sekiganda is available for selection after shaking off a knock sustained in the grueling victory over Kyetume at Bombo.

Gavin Kizito Mugweri returns after serving his suspension for the red card recieved in the 3-1 loss to Vipers in the league.

No serious absentees have been reported from the Vipers camp.
