URA FC 5-1 Synergy FC
Kirinya Jinja SSS 0-1 Onduparaka FC
URA FC and Onduparaka FC were the first clubs to book places in the Round of 16 stage of the 2019 Uganda Cup edition.
To achieve the feat, the tax collectors thumped Synergy 5-1 at Namboole while Onduparaka needed a stoppage winner from Solomon Okwalinga to overcome Kirinya Jinja SSS.
Robert Sentongo Kayuuni had given Synergy an early lead after converting from the spot but the tax collectors retaliated with quick goals from Said Kyeyune and Patrick Mboowa.
Shafik Kagimu saw his penalty saved by Julius Sekyewa the Synergy custodian in the 23rd minute.
Robert Mukongotya and Ronald Musana made the scoreline 3-1 and 4-1 respectively moments before the mandatory halftime break.
Mukongotya completed his brace making it 5-1 moments into the second period.
At the Mighty Arena, Okwalinga came on for Gadaffi Gadinho in the 75th minute before scoring from a Ceaser Okhuti corner kick in the third minute of the added four.
Kirinya Jinja SSS had a good display but couldn’t capitalize on the goal scoring chances that came their way on the evening.
Okhuti was the guilty party on the other hand for failing to put the West Nile ahead on two occasions.
To reach the round of 32 phase, Onduparaka had edged Busia Young 2-0 while Sam Simbwa’s men received a walkover after Jinja Municipal Council Hippos failed to turn up.
The round of 16 games will resume on Sunday 13th January at the Christ SSS playground in Bundibugyo when Bright Stars take on Big League side Bumate United.
