BUL FC defeated Proline FC 2-0 at Lugogo to earn a first leg advantage in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter finals.
Vitalis Tabu and Joseph Semujju scored two first half goals that ensured BUL go back to Jinja with a comfortable two goal lead.
Tabu struck brilliantly from a free kick just outside the box to give Alex Isabirye’s men an early lead in the 6th minute.
Semujju made it 2-0 when he rushed faster to beat goalkeeper Shatif Magoola and score in an empty net in the 37th minute.
10 minutes into the second half, Semujju came close to making it 3-0 but his effort from about 25 yards came off the cross bar.
Defender Dennis Okot had an attempt from a distance in the 67th minute but his goal bound shot was parried away for a corner kick by goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato who replaced an injured Magoola.
Proline’s clear cut chance fell to striker Hamis Diego Kiiza who went one on one with the goalkeeper but blasted the ball far above the bar early in the first half.
BUL will host the second leg on Monday 31st May at the Bugembe Stadium in Jinja.
