Uganda Cranes striker Edirisa ‘Torres’ Lubega has joined Portuguese second tier club Estrela da Amadora SAD.

He joins the Portuguese club on loan Estonian side Paide Linnamesskond with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Last season, Lubega spent the closing half of the campaign in the Czech Republic topflight league with FK Pribram before the club was relegated to the second tier.

He scored two goals and registered one assist in Pribram’s unsuccessful fight against relegation.

His new side, Estrela da Amadora is a newly promoted team in the Portuguese second division.

The club was founded in 1932 and is located in the Northwest of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.

Lubega’s journey in Europe continues, having left Proline FC in 2017 for Floridsdorfer Athletik Club and SV Ried in Austria.

He joined Paide Linnameeskond last year and subsequently emerged as the second top scorer of the league with 14 goals behind Rauno Sappinen of Flora Tallinn.

Last season, the Portuguese second tier league was home to Uganda Cranes left back Alex Kakuba who was turning out for CD Cova da Piedade.

Despite surviving relegation at the end of the season, Cova da Piedade have been demoted to the third tier after failing to produce valid licensing documentation to compete in the forthcoming season which is expected to kick off next month.
