Uganda Cranes legend Mayanja pays tribute to global icon Maradona

Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC legend Jackson Mayanja has joined the rest of the world to pay tribute to global icon Diego Maradona who passed away on Wednesday after a cardiac heart attack.

Maradona was a man of ridiculous talent, i was lucky to watch him play and I will never forget his masterstroke performance against England in the quarterfinals of the 1986 world cup.”

I enjoyed watching him dribble past many defenders, he was amazing and a job to watch. I will always remember his second goal against England, it was really special.” He has left a legacy and I know generations and generations to come will read about him.” Said Mayanja.

Players past and present have been paying tribute to Maradona after he died at the age of 60. One of the greatest players ever, Maradona is best known for his time with Argentina, Napoli and Barcelona, while also having a colourful life off the pitch.

The combustible Argentine led his nation to the 1986 World Cup glory.

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, he was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA player of the 20th Century award.

Maradona kicked off his prolific career with Argentinos Juniors’ youth team before featuring at Boca Juniors, Barcelona FC, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell’s Old Boys.
