Ugandan forward William Kizito Luwagga has signed for Israeli Premier League new entrants Hapoel Nof HaGalil FC.

Luwagga has been a free agent after his contract with Hapoel Kfar Saba, another Israeli club, expired at the end of last season.

He was Hapoel Kfar Saba’s top scorer last season with seven goals in 31 appearances as the club succumbed to relegation from the Premier League to the second tier.

Luwagga has been included in Hapoel Nof HaGalil’s squad that will be taking on Hapoel Jerusalem in their first league game on Monday 30th August.

He is the third Ugandan player in the Israeli topflight league, others are striker Fahad Bayo and Timothy Awany who play for Ashdod SC.

Luwagga has previously played for Portuguese sides Sporting Covilha, Feirense, Leixoes and Rio Ave, BATE Borisov (Belarus), Shakhter Karagandy (Kazakhstan) and Polihtenica Iasi in Romania.

His new club was founded as Hapoel Kiryat Nazareth 62 years ago before changing the identity Nazareth Illit and later to Hapoel Nof HaGalil in 2019.

The club is coached by Yaron Hochenboim and hosts the league games from the Green Stadium.

They will be playing in the Israeli Premier League after an absence of 15 years.
