Uganda’s debut in the FIBA U18 3×3 World Championships in Chengdu,China did not go according to plan. Facing a Romanian side, Uganda had a terrible ugly game losing 8-18. The four man squad captained by Fayed Baale and coached by Coach Nyambogo Hamza was dismantled by the Romanians who seemed to get everything right.

However, in the next match against Indonesia, Fayed Baale, Joseph Dramaza, Elvis Ssentongo and Henry Okoth picked themselves up and put up a spirited fight to win. They looked a different team from the one that had been humiliated by Romania, the lads managed to defeat Indonesia, 20-18 in a close encounter.

Uganda placed in pool D with, Jordan, Romania, Belgium and Indonesia, they will look at nothing else but winning their remaining fixtures to try secure a spot among the first 2 teams to qualify from the group. First and second placed teams in each group will qualify for the quarter finals.

Uganda play Belgium next who won silver in the European Cup and Jordan in their next 2 games on Friday June 30th to determine whether they can book a place at the quarterfinal.

Pool D standings
1.Belgium 39 points
2.Romania 36 points
3.Indonesia 29 points
4.Uganda 28 points
5.Jordan 12 points
