The KCCA striker headed home the elusive goal in the 79th minute that separated Uganda and Cape Verde at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The two sides had been tied at goalless for the better part of game until Godfrey Walusimbi laid an exquisite cross to Kaddu who sent the Namboole crowd into a bouncing frenzy.

Farouk Miya had a chance to score in the 16th minute

First half stalemate

The first 45 minutes saw limited chances on either sides with Uganda appearing the better side. Farouk Miya and Isaac Muleme were presented with the best attempts only to be denied by the Cape Verde steady custodian Thiery Graca.

Muleme recieved a brilliant pass from Kaddu but an effort from his weaker foot was well gathered by the keeper

Jorge Semedo on the other side came closest for the visiting team from about 18 yards but couldn’t beat Denis Onyango.

Hassan Wasswa to miss next game

Hassan Wasswa was the first player to go into the referee’s book after fouling Jorge Semedo 4 minutes to the half break. The booking means the defensive kingpin is ruled out for the last game against Tanzania.

His center back partner Murushid Jjuuko was also booked four minutes later for the same case on Gary Mendes.

Cape Verde XI

Helder Luis Tavares was the only Cape Verde player booked after bringing down Khalid Aucho moments into the second half.

The final 45 minutes

Rui Aguas the Cape Verde tactician made the first two changes of the game bringing on Heldon Ramos and Dijon talisman Julio Tavares in quest for the breakthrough.

His equal number Sebastien Desabre withdrew an unproductive Muleme for Allan Kyambadde 6 minutes off the hour mark.

In the process, Kaddu put to waste two chances in succession. One header missed target by inches another was an effort from a Miya pass.

Heldon Ramos almost broke the deadlock only to be denied by a Jjuuko goal line clearance with Onyango already beaten.

Kaddu breaks the deadlock

Walusimbi laid an inch perfect cross for Kaddu who brilliantly beat Thiery Graca with a superb header eleven minutes from normal time to set the Namboole crowd into celebrations.

Kaddu is mobbed by teammates in celebrations

Uganda would have extended the lead but Walusimbi’s goal bound effort was parried away by the Cape Verde custodian before Miya failed to capitalize on the resultant inter play.

Miya was later replaced by Timothy Awany inside the added four minutes.

Onyango milestone

The Cranes custodian and skipper remains the only goalkeeper yet to concede in the ongoing qualification campaign and boasts of 5 clean sheets so far.

Second consecutive Qualification

Uganda has qualified for the second time in three years and for the 7th time in history. To achieve the feat, Desabre’s charges top Group L with 13 points from 5 games played.
