Nvule Jamil and Derrick Mudaali grabbed a brace each as Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi (UMU) kicked off their defense for the University Football league title with a 5-0 trashing of Bishop Stewart University at UMU Nkozi grounds.
Jude Semugabi set up Derrick Mudaali who flawlessly finished from a keeper to beat incident to put the defending champions in the lead as early as the 15th minute.
Nvule Jamil made it 2-0 with a cracker in the 28th minute when he smashed home a lose ball from outside the box following a Mahad Semanda cross. His goal bound strike came off the bar before hitting the back of the net.
Minutes later, Nvule scored his second of the day and UMU’s third with another brilliant finish on the near post from a move he orchestrated himself from a corner kick.
Come second half, Derrick Mudaali also claimed a brace for himself when he headed home from close range following a rebound off the goalkeeper who had initially saved a goal bound free kick in the 58th minute.
Putting the icing on the cake, Jacob Owora delivered a nice to cross to Travin Kyeyune who beat his opponent to calmly finish with a well placed effort past the sorry goalkeeper 10 minutes to time.
The Pepsi sponsored University league resumes tomorrow Thursday 29th March with another Group D fixture as Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) takes on Kampala International University (KIU) at IUIU grounds in Mbale.
