The 2020 University Football League will officially kick off on Wednesday with a group B contest between defending champions Uganda Christian University and Islamic University in Uganda at Mukono.
UCU had an amazing 2019 winning both the University Football League as well as scooping the AUUS University Games that were held at Kisubi.
The two sides faced off in a mouthwatering AUUS football final last with UCU coming out on top, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Oyam Timothy and Kaye Kizito.

The reigning champions will have a changed squad after the departures of eight first team players who were part of last year’s winning team.
Some of these graduated or played the maximum of four seasons or attained the age of 25 years.
These include Kaye Kizito Ezra who last year’s top scorer with 15 goals, Jerome James, Wadribo Eric, Kakembo Joseph, Mbowa Derrick, Adriko Vincent and Lubega Mohammed as well as Oyam Timothy who joined URA FC and Police FC respectively.
