UFL : Kyambogo University start title defence with fine home win

Kyambogo University have began their title defence with a 4-2 victory over Kampala International University in a group C encounter of the Pepsi University league at Kyambogo.

In the 17th minute, the home side was awarded a penalty after Emma Mwesigwa was brought down in the 18 yards box. Robert Sekidde calmly converted from the spot to fire the home side into the lead.

With only five minutes to the halftime breather, Mutebi Ramadhan leveled matters with a spectacular long range shot. At halftime both sides were locked at a 1-1 draw.

Ten minutes into the second half, Nsamba Paul restored Kyambogo’s lead before Ivan Okello made it 3-1 with a powerful header in the 67th minute.

Mwesigwa who had a great display beautifully tapped in Kyambogo’s fourth in the 75th minute whereas Wampamba Joel cut the deficit for the visitors in the final minutes of the game. The hosts finished with 10 men.

The Pepsi University football league resumes tomorrow with a group D contest as last year’s runners up Kampala University hosting debutants International University of East Africa
