UFL : IUIU fight back to draw with 10-man St. Lawrence University

Islamic University and St. Lawrence University played out to a 1-1 draw in a group B contest of the University league at Mbale playgrounds.

The visitors were off the mark in the 25th minute when Sabiti Isa fired them into a deserved lead to send the traveling fans into a bouncing frenzy.

IUIU tried to create numerous chances in the final minutes of the first period but couldn’t find away through a resilient St.Lawrence defence.

Early in the second period the home side continued to threaten pressing for the leveller but the visitors were very compact and looked unbreakable.

With the clock ticking, Kamya Mubarak “Wakaso” levelled matters for the hosts in the 75th minute. Moments later St. Lawrence scorer Sabiti was shown marching orders for a second bookable offence.

The result sees St. Lawrence stay top of group B with 2 points garnered in 2 games whereas IUIU are second also with the same number of points.

Action continues tomorrow when YMCA welcome Bishop Stuart University at Buwambo Campus in a group A clash.
