UCU takes the first game of the 7 in the Women’s NBL final

Defending champions, UCU Lady Canons defeated KCCA Leopards , 65-57 in the 1st game of the best of 7 series.

UCU looked superior from the start as they dominated KCCA leading 18-10 in the first quarter.

Vilma Achieng opened scores for UCU scoring a 2 jump shot after receiving a ball from Muwanguzi Ritah. Sylvia Nakazibwe pulled back 2-2 before Judith Nansobya scored a 3 pointer to put UCU in a 5-2 lead.

The Leopards kept chasing the game falling short of 18 points at half time trailing 19-37.

The 3rd quarter wasn’t any different as Judith Nansobya and Vilma Achieng kept displaying master piece performances inspiring UCU to a 48-35 3rd quarter lead.

The duo scored a total of 32 points all together, 19 for Judith Nansobya and 13 for Vilma Achieng which ensured UCU win the first encounter 65-57.

KCCA’s Wanjiku Grace and Irakunda Cynthia scored 12 points each but still looked far from stopping UCU.

Earlier on JKL Lady Dolphins claimed the 3rd place after defeating A1 challenge 55-48 while in the men’s category Pemba Warriors stopped Betway Power to finish 3rd defeating them 75-66.
