Oilers in a tight a 77-73 victory over Patriots

UCU lady Canons continued to impress the audience as they picked their 3rd win in 3 games played. UCU found no trouble dominating Tanzania’s based Don Bosco from kick off. UCU led the first quarter 17-6 and continued to push forward in the 2nd quarter leading 45-15 at half time.
Sarah Ageno ran the show scoring 18 points, Zaina Angella scoring 17 and Muwanguzi Rachael managing to put up 10 points. UCU ended the 3rd quarter on a 70-27 lead and later closing the game on 93-36. UCU will return in action on Thursday against Rwanda’s APR.
At 6:30 pm, defending champions City Oilers lined up against Rwanda’s Patriots in a battle of the first place. Oilers who had overwhelming results in their last 2 fixtures winning 93-46 over Savio and 111-41 over Hawasa, came into the game as favourites.
Mandy Juruni named Mayes, Opong, Ocitti, Pegues and Enabu as the first 5 in a game that was too tight that ended 23-23 in the first quarter. Patriots kept testing Oilers and squeezed breath out of them but Oilers maintained momentum as they led by 3 points on 45-42 at half time.
2 minutes into the 3rd quarter, the visitors looked more hungry, Aristide scored 3 and Patriots led 48-45. Patriots went on to lead the 3rd quarter by 1 point on 61-60.
However, in the 4th quarter Oilers looked like real beasts, Mayes was giving all he got to tame Patriots, scoring 6 straight points. Oilers kept their 100% run eventually and finished as king of the group after a 77-73 over Patriots. Pagues scored 19 points as well as Opong and Shyaka managed to score 18.
