U20 WWC Qualifiers: Uganda aims for 4th round from tough visit in Johannesburg

Uganda won the first leg 1-0 at Kitende thanks to Hadija Nandago

Uganda’s U20 Women’s team will be hoping to edge South Africa to qualify for the fourth round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

The two sides will face off on Friday evening for the second leg having met in the first leg a fortnight ago.

Youngster Hadija Nandago scored the only goal of the game when both sides met and gave Uganda a slim 1-0 advantage.

Uganda can automatically qualify for the next round should the Ayub Khalifa coached side avoid defeat or play out any draw.

Ayub Khalifa however will rely on his forwards to get the goals and ensure the job is completed.

Juliet Nalukenge is a big boost for the team having scored a hat trick for her club AMOK Chrysomolia in the league over the weekend.

She is expected to team up with the captain Fauzia Najjemba, Margaret Kunihira and the high flying Nandago upfront.

Nandago also scored the lone goal when the team beat Tanzania 1-0 in a friendly match played last week in Dar es Salaam.

Uganda’s opponents South Africa are expected to name a changed line up from the one that played the first leg since a number of players where sidelined by school engagements.

The aggregate winners of the game will face the winners between Ghana and Zambia who played out a goalless draw in the first leg.

The game will be played at 4pm at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johan and will not be televised. Swift Sports will avail timely updates on the proceedings across all social media platforms.

Uganda’s Probable Line Up.

Daphine Nyayenga (GK), Samalie Nakacwa, Sumaya Komuntale, Asia Nakibuuka, Bira Nadunga, Aisha Nantongo, Shakira Nyinagahirwa, Hadija Nandago, Margret Kunihira, Juliet Nalukenge, Fauzia Najjemba
