U17 AFCON Zonal Qualifiers: Uganda pummels Djibouti to reach semis

Uganda Cubs humiliated Djibouti 8-0 to advance to the semifinals of the U17 AFCON Zonal qualifiers in Dar es Salam.

Najib Yiga executed an iconic hat trick while Thomas Kakaire, IDD Abdulwarid, Davis Ssekajja and Juma Ibrahim all were on target.

Peter Onen coached team hit the front early in the 9th minute through Idd Abdulwarid before Thomas Kakaire doubled the scoreline seven minutes later.

Juma Ibrahim and Najib Yiga also scored the third and fourth to ensure the Cubs head into halftime break in a comfortable lead at the Chamazi Stadium.

The other four goals were scored in the second period with Najib Yiga completing his hat trick and Davis Ssekajja also having his name in the lights.

Following a convincing display, the Cubs will take on Tanzania in the semifinals whereas Ethiopia will lock horns with Rwanda in the other semifinal on Friday 24th August.

The undisputed champion of the tournament will represent the region at the U17 AFCON final tournament in Tanzania next year.
