SC Villa’s mission to avoid being dragged into the relegation mix has been dealt a huge blow after two key players have been ruled out of the encounter with UPDF FC this evening at FUFA technical centre in Njeru.

Embattled captain Meddie Kibirige has failed to shake off an ailment with Malaria and he has been deemed unfit to even be included in the match day squad.

This leaves Petros Koukouras with only one option of Martin Senkooto who has been thrown into action for the previous matches.

Kibirige has also been struggling with an injured finger.

Villa have only two recognised goal keepers registered and they may play without a substitute custodian.

The other key missing player is reliable defender Kenneth Semakula who was diagnosed with a bacterial infection.

Semakula has been a main stay in Koukras’ starting eleven and he was the fulcrum to which the Greekman builds his defense.

Experienced defender Shafiq Bakaki maybe rushed in to deputies. Bernard Agere received his clearance and he may also be another option.

Villa have only beaten UPDF once in the previous four meetings between the two sides. The other three have been bossed by the army side.

The record champions will hope to recover from an uninspiring 1-0 defeat at the hands of Soltilo Bright Stars at Kavumba and they currently sit 11th on the log with 15 points, only 5 above 14th placed Onduparaka. The Caterpillars host limping Tooro United today.

UPDF last won a game of football on November 30th against Tooro United.

They have since gone six matches without tasting victory. They are currently 9th on the log with 18 points.
