TURKEY: Miya wins it late for Konyaspor against Rizespor

Konyaspor Kulübü 1-0 Çaykur Rizespor

Farouk Miya came off the bench to inspire Konyaspor Kulübü to a 1-0 win over fellow relegation candidates Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig encounter on Sunday night.

Miya replaced Levan Shengalia on 57 minutes and converted a decisive penalty in the 90th minute following a handball in the box.

The Uganda Cranes forward sent the Caykur Rizespor goalkeeper the wrong way to ensure a much-needed victory for Konyaspor.

The strike was Miya’s sixth of the season and elevated Konyaspor from the 17th to the 14th position on 30 points from 30 games played.

With four games left until the season climax, Konyaspor are two places and one point above the relegation zone.

Konyaspor Külubü will face Gaziantep FK in their subsequent league fixture on Thursday 9th July.

Farouk Miya has played a total of 22 games for the Green and Whites, scoring six goals and registering one assist as well. He has also been booked twice.
