TURKEY: Miya features in crushing defeat to Besiktas


Besiktas JK 3-0 Konyaspor Külubü

Farouk Miya came off the bench to play 30 minutes as his Konyaspor Külubü fell 3-0 to Besiktas JK in the Turkish Super Lig.

Konyaspor went down to 10-men after only 15 minutes when Bosnian midfielder Amir Hadziahmetovic was sent off.

Burak Yilmaz (40′), Abdoulay Diaby (45+2′) and Dutchman Jeremain Lens (52′) scored Besiktas’ three goals in a space of 12 minutes.

Miya was brought on in the 61st minute replacing Omer Ali Sahiner.

The Uganda Cranes offensive midfielder has played a total of 21 games for Konyaspor Külubü since crossing over from HNK Gorica of Croatia.

He has scored five goals, assisted once as well as getting booked twice.

The crushing defeat leaves Konyaspor in the relegation zone, 16th on the 18-team table with 27 points garnered from 29 points.

Their next league game will be at home against fellow relegation strugglers Caykur Rizespor on Sunday 5th July.

Rizespor are just a point and a place above Konyaspor with a game in hand.
