New Uganda Premier League entrants UPDF FC are set to sign former Sofapaka striker Brian Kayanja, Swift Sports has learnt.

Kayanja is a free agent after parting ways with Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka FC citing a breach in contract one month ago.

As earlier reported by this website, URA FC, KCCA FC and Rwanda’s Rayon Sports expressed interest in signing Kayanja but seemingly dithered in the eleventh hour.

He played an instrumental role in Bright Stars’ road to the 2019 Uganda Cup final, only to lose to the eventual winners Proline FC in a penalty shootout at Masaka.

UPDF FC have so far signed Dickens Okwir, Juma Sebadduka, John Ssemazzi, Charles Ssebutinde, Isa Mubiru, Jesse Kajuba, Gaddafi Gadinho, James Begisa, Ibrahim Wammanah, Tonny Kyamera, Ronnie Kisekka, Simon Mbaziira and Sam Kintu Tiyo.

The army side will be under the tutelage of Kefa Kisala who was appointed to replace Steven Bogere.
