Tragedy as Vipers junior goalkeeper succumbs to cancer

SINAN RAJUB SENOGA

” We’ve lost a young talent. It’s so unfortunate for a young lad with a big dream, ” Kitalo nyo ekya Kevin..” are some of the torrents of condolence messages that have been sent out following the demise of Kevin Semakalu on Friday evening.

In deed, it’s very unfortunate Kevin Semakalu, a young Vipers Junior Team goalkeeper is no more!

The young shot stopper had been battling with an unknown disease since November last year until it was confirmed that he was diagnosed with cancer after a scan was carried out at Mulago Hospital.

Kevin, as famously known, was undergoing treatment until he passed on last evening.

Gone too soon! Kevin was a senior four vacist having completed his UCE exams last year at St Mary’s Kitende.

Kevin played for Busujju in the Airtel Masaza Cup last year

As a budding footballer, Kevin burst to the scene with the famous 11 commandos of Blessed Sacrament Kimanya in the 2018 Copa Coca-Cola tournament held in Mbarara.

Just like any other football player, Kevin had a dream of becoming one of the prominent goalkeepers in the country but sadly his dream was cut short by the monstrous disease.

A humble soul and friendly to many, Kevin’s unique character will greatly be missed.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday February 8th at 4:00pm in Busunju – Nakwaya in Mityana district.

Rest In Peace Kevin! May you play well with the Angels.
